Three students represented the Tri-County
Regional School Board at the 2008 Canada Wide Science Fair which took place
at the University of Ottawa from May 10-18. Four hundred and eighty
(480) student scientists, 170 adult delegates, and over 200 volunteers
from all
across the nation gathered at the event.

Up to 13 judges representing industry &
academia interviewed each of the students. Hundreds of local
junior/senior high school students and adults from the Ottawa area came out
to learn from the young scientists. The Tri-County delegation actively
took part in daily tours of educational institutions, research facilities,
Parliament Hill, and the many national museums.

All students came away with extraordinary
memories and educational insights. The judges were impressed with all
three Tri-County students, especially Maxwell, who received the Silver Medal
in the Junior Division for Physical Sciences and Mathematics. He also earned
$700 and a $1,500 entrance scholarship to the University of Western Ontario.

Nova Scotia's delegation of 40 students
earned a total of 21 prizes and awards. For Maxwell to place second in
Canada is certainly a great accomplishment and honor.
The Tri-County Regional
School Board congratulates Maxwell, Hughstin, and Logan, and wishes them all
the best in their scientific pursuits.
