2007 Tri-County Regional
Heritage Fair

The 2007 Tri-County Regional
Heritage Fair took place on May 3, 2007 at NSCC Burridge Campus.
Tri-county students in grades 4 - 9 were on hand to showcase a variety of
projects celebrating various aspects of heritage from all over the world.

Inuksuk built by Aqiki N.
The Judges were impressed, to say
the least, with the knowledge and enthusiasm shown by all of the students as
they proudly showed off their projects. Some of the more interactive
projects included a student who built an Inuksuk and a group of students who
were giving away cookies, and recipes, in celebration of Christmas heritage.

Aboriginal Teachings workshop
When the projects weren't being
judged, there was no shortage of activities for everyone to participate in.
Wanda Joudry-Finigan held an Aboriginal Teachings workshop where everyone
participated in traditional Mi'Kmaq celebrations and were invited to learn and
speak words in the Mi'Kmaq language.

Geo-caching at Cape Forchu Lighthouse
Some students went on a short
field trip to the Cape Forchu Lighthouse in Yarmouth County. South
Centennial Elementary Principal, Mrs. Chisholm educated the students on the
history of the lighthouse and how the area was discovered. Steve and
Brenda Adams took the students geo-caching and the students had to decipher
clues to to find hidden "caches".

Judges speaking with participant
The Tri-County Regional School
Board would like to thank everyone involved in making the 2007 Tri-County
