Report from the Board Chair
On May 3, the Chair judged student projects at
the Tri-County Regional Heritage Fair. The Chair was extremely
impressed with the quality of work that was displayed
On May 10 & 11, the Chair accompanied Education
Minister Karen Casey as she toured a number of Digby County & Yarmouth
County schools.
From May 30 to June 2, the Chair attended the
53rd annual NSSBA Annual General Meeting. All resolutions submitted by
the TCRSB were passed.
Report from the Superintendent of Schools
On April 20, the Superintendent attended a
workshop in Dartmouth on Best Practices. The event was sponsored by
the NSSBA.
On May 17, the Superintendent attended the
monthly Education Consultative Forum (ECF) in Halifax. Some items

On May 29, the Superintendent attended meetings
in Halifax on the issue of school security.
Report from the Director of Programs & Student
Services
During the last two months, the Director has
been dealing with staffing issues and Professional Development for both
schools and Central Office staff. The Education Leadership Team has
been very supportive during this time of change and the focus has been on
staff and how they can best support schools as they strive to improve.
Report from Suspension Committee
The Suspension Committee recommended that the
Director of Programs & Student Services formulate an action research
proposal, to be submitted to the Department of Education, for the purpose of
reducing the incidence of suspensions.
