ORDER OF THE DAY:  Student Services Highlights

Review of Program Support Assistant Services

A Student Services team is in the process of going to each school to review Program Support Assistant Services.  The team members review Program Support Assistant schedules, Resource Teacher schedules, Resource service delivery models and student program plans.  This team also completes observations of the students currently receiving program support assistance.

Individual Program Plan (IPP) Reviews

The Student Services team reviewed each Individual Program Plan (IPP) from every school.  The team used a rubric to provide written feedback on five IPPs, from each school, to school teams.  The Student Services Consultants are in the process of meeting, for a day, with each school team to discuss the five IPPs for which there is written feedback and to review the remaining IPPs submitted from the school.

  • Co-Teaching Pilot - Shelburne Regional High

  • Strategies for Teaching Based on Autism Research (STAR) Pilot - Meadowfields Community School

  • Promoting Academics and Enhancing Self-Esteem for Students with Identified Behavioural Challenges Programs - Digby Regional High School & Barrington Municipal High School

Report from the Board Chair

On January 31 the Board Chair, along with Board Member Tidd, represented the Board at a Community Use of Schools meeting for Digby Regional High School.

On February 2 the Board Chair, along with other Board Members & staff, attended the NSTU sponsored Time to Teach Time to Learn forum in Halifax.

On February 10 team TCRSB scored 199 points to earn 4th place out of 39 teams at the St. Mary's Bay Academy Trivia Challenge.

On February 13 the Board Chair, along with Board member Tidd, attended the RCH Policy Review Committee meeting at 10:00am, the SAC Committee meeting at 2:00pm, and the Suspension Committee meeting at 5:30pm.  The RCH Policy Review is complete and the revised document will be going to the Policy Committee.  The SAC Committee is considering a spring workshop presentation centered on the expected pandemic.  The Suspension Committee continues to work on possible options for those students experiencing difficulties in the regular system.

Report from the Director of Programs & Student Services

The Early Hire Job fairs continue to offer the TCRSB the chance to promote our Board as a place for prospective teachers to start their careers.  The Director's team successfully attracted 11 teachers to the TCRSB, many of whom may not have found their way here without the Early Hire Job Fair opportunity.  Among these early hires is a qualified Guidance Counselor with both Elementary & Middle High school training.

Report from the Boundary Review Committee

The Boundary Review Committee submitted its final draft of the revised boundaries to the Board.  The Boundaries were approved by Board motion & will go into effect in September 2007.  You may click here to view the Boundaries.
