Arcadia Consolidated Video Presentation
Board Members, staff, and members of the public
who were in attendance were treated to a video presentation by Mr. Rideout's
grade five class from Arcadia Consolidated. The video, Compression
+ Tension = Forces in Sports, was produced solely by the students for
the purpose of entering it in the 8th Annual Grade 5 Science Film
Competition, sponsored by the Discovery Centre & Saint Mary's
University.
The competition is curriculum based and is open
to all grade five students in Nova Scotia. The class worked in groups
to produce every aspect of the video from the storyboarding stage right up
to the editing process; the students were graded on this project.
The video came in 2nd place at the annual
competition. The awards presentation was held on March 27th in Halifax
where the top three videos were shown on a big screen. The judges were
very impressed with the students' use of scientific terminology, camera
work, audio quality, as well as their overall understanding of the subject
matter.
The Tri-County Regional School Board
congratulates Mr. Rideout's class on this significant accomplishment.
